Antique 19th-Century Rose-Cut Diamond & Baroque Pearl Girandole Earrings

An extraordinary pair of antique chandelier earrings, believed to date to the mid-19th century, circa 1850–1870. Designed in an elegant botanical girandole style, these rare earrings showcase rose-cut diamonds, softly luminous cream pearls and beautifully articulated movement.

Each earring begins with a rose-cut diamond foliate motif above a near-round cream pearl with soft golden overtones. A central rose-cut diamond leads into a graceful fan of slender stems, leaves and blossoms. Three articulated pendants complete the design, including diamond-set side drops and a central floral element ending in a wonderfully irregular baroque pearl.

The diamonds are held in darkened antique settings, creating dramatic contrast and emphasizing the softly irregular sparkle characteristic of hand-cut rose diamonds. Natural variations in the pearls—including differences in shape, texture and luster—add to the earrings’ authentic old-world character.

A particularly special detail is the unusual yellow-gold closure. The earrings feature elongated, hinged poissarde-style ear wires that pass through the ear from back to front and secure into a small catch near the top of the design. This historic construction is both distinctive and beautifully crafted.
